How we minimise the risk of modern slavery
Practical controls across recruitment, workforce monitoring and supplier due diligence.
Right-to-work checks
We undertake identity verification and right-to-work checks for all workers, and apply robust and fair recruitment practices.
Workforce monitoring
We monitor workforce arrangements for indicators of exploitation, and investigate and escalate any concerns relating to exploitation or human trafficking.
Supplier due diligence
We conduct proportionate due diligence on suppliers and contractors, and expect suppliers and business partners to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and applicable employment legislation.
Equipping staff to recognise and report concerns
Staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role, including awareness of modern slavery, human trafficking, criminal exploitation and indicators of abuse. Training supports staff to recognise concerns and understand the appropriate reporting and referral pathways.
All staff are expected to remain vigilant and to report any concerns promptly through organisational safeguarding procedures.
Reviewed annually
MHS reviews the effectiveness of its safeguarding and governance arrangements through incident management, audits, training compliance monitoring and continuous improvement activities. Any identified risks or learning points are incorporated into organisational action plans and policy reviews.
